What type of motor is used in the drive system of this Electric Walkie Stacker?

Jun 06,2025

The drive system of the Electric Walkie Stacker adopts a three-phase asynchronous AC motor, which is a power device widely used in electric forklifts and stackers. Its working principle is based on the rotating magnetic field generated by AC power, which drives the motor rotor to operate through electromagnetic induction to achieve power output. Compared with traditional DC motors, AC motors use variable frequency control technology, which can achieve stepless speed regulation by adjusting the current frequency, making the vehicle run more smoothly, while reducing mechanical shock, improving operating comfort and safety.

The energy conversion efficiency of AC motors is extremely high, usually reaching more than 90%. Compared with DC motors, it is more power-saving and can effectively extend the battery life. In addition, the stacker is equipped with an intelligent regenerative braking system. When decelerating or running downhill, the motor can switch to power generation mode, convert kinetic energy into electrical energy and recharge it back to the battery, further reducing energy consumption and improving energy utilization.

Due to the use of a brushless structure, the AC motor avoids the problem of regular replacement of traditional DC motors due to carbon brush wear, greatly reducing maintenance costs. At the same time, AC motors have better heat dissipation performance, and can maintain a stable operating temperature even in long-term continuous operation, reducing the risk of failure caused by overheating.

AC motors have a large starting torque and can easily cope with the needs of heavy-load starting and slope operation. Combined with the stepless speed regulation function, the operator can accurately adjust the motor speed through the controller to achieve smooth acceleration and deceleration, adapt to the requirements of different loads and working conditions, and improve operation flexibility and efficiency.

There are significant differences between AC motors and DC motors in many aspects. In terms of maintenance requirements, AC motors adopt a brushless design and basically require no maintenance, while DC motors require regular replacement of carbon brushes and commutators. In terms of energy efficiency, the conversion efficiency of AC motors exceeds 90%, which is significantly higher than the 80% of DC motors. In terms of speed regulation performance, AC motors support stepless speed regulation and faster response speed, while DC motors have a relatively narrow speed regulation range. Although the initial purchase cost of AC motors is high, their long-term operation and maintenance costs are lower, especially suitable for medium and high-intensity, long-term operation scenarios, while DC motors are more suitable for light loads and short-term operations.

In this Electric Walkie Stacker, the AC motor works in conjunction with the intelligent control system to achieve a number of advanced functions. For example, the motor can be precisely controlled by the inverter, allowing the vehicle to automatically decelerate and start and stop smoothly, improving operational safety. The emergency reverse function relies on the motor's rapid response capability, combined with the regenerative braking system, which can quickly switch the driving direction or brake in an emergency. In addition, the motor also has a built-in overload protection mechanism that works with the hydraulic system's pressure relief valve to prevent damage to the equipment due to overload, ensuring safe and reliable operations.
